LIFE: On our to-do list this week

New York

"The Black Panthers: Making Sense of History," by Stephen Shames
"Time of Change," by Bruce Davidson
Aperture Gallery
547 West 27th Street
(212) 505-0555

Stephen Shames, the official photographer of the Black Panthers, shows off his work from 1967 to 1973 alongside Bruce Davidson's pics chronicling the non-violent resistance movement during the Civil Rights period.

"Bloodlines," by McCallum & Tarry
May 17 thru June 23

Bradley McCallum and Jacqueline Tarry, a husband and wife team, are two of the more compelling voices coming out of Brooklyn's art scene right now. The exhibit continues their exploration of race and ideology, this time through a series of hauntingly beautiful black and white paintings based on images from the Civil Rights Era.
